DAA Submissions

Completed Submissions

In its role as a key advocate on nutrition and dietetic issues in Australia, DAA develops submissions in response to issues of strategic relevance which impact on members, the Association or the general public.

Once strategic relevance has been determined by National Office, the submission development process includes establishment of a group to develop the submission e.g. an advisory committee, interest group or group of members with an interest in the topic.  A background paper which outlines the major issues and options is developed and discussed by the group.  A draft submission is developed with input from group members.  National Office approves the final submission.

Submissions focus on the areas of agreement within the profession to gain the support of the majority of members.  Where conflicting views are expressed, factors including available evidence, previous DAA positions, member support and DAA's strategic direction are used to determine the final DAA position.

Where time permits, members are invited to join the development group or to comment on the draft submission. Members may also submit their own submission if they do not support the DAA position.

Further information on the DAA submission development process is available in How to Contribute to DAA Submissions.
