Membership fees policy

Membership year - important dates:

DAA Membership Year	1 January - 31 December DAA's membership renewal period begins early December for the new membership year
Early Bird Discount* date for renewals on or before	15 February
All services cease and APD status and other benefits are lost if renewal is not completed on or before	15 March  (Member becomes unfinancial)
Membership is 'Lapsed' if renewal not completed on or before (previous members only)	19 April (Reinstatement fee applies thereafter for all, other than deferred members [maximum three years], regardless the date of reinstatement)
Membership fees at half price See** below	1 July
Following year membership fees paid, membership year will be the following year	Early December

*Early Bird DISCOUNT :  -$22.00  (or -$20.00 without GST*) (if renewal completed and paid on or before 15 February)

**Half price membership fees apply to:

• New members
• Deferred or resigned members
• Lapsed members (see note below)

Please note: Members who were financial in previous year (eg. 2009) and lapsed in current year (eg. 2010) are  ineligible for reduced fees, unless compassionate grounds can be demonstrated.

Membership categories and fees

Before selecting your membership fee category for the current year, please review the list below:

- Declarations: The categories 'Paid work up to 20 hours per week', 'Currently not working/Unemployed', 'Not working in related industry', 'Retired' and 'Associate (overseas)' require you to sign a declaration and to advise DAA if your circumstances change.

- Are you going on planned unpaid leave (maternity leave, extended travel, career break)   during this membership year? please see information in Frequently Asked Questions.  

- Paid employment in any field is taken into account in determining the appropriate membership fees.
NEW: All members with an overseas address will receive partial services (publications including Newsletter and Journal will not be supplied in hard copy. Access will be via the DAA website).

Membership fees for 2010 are as follows:

Unemployed	Not employed but looking for work	$256.30
Career Break	Not employed and not looking for work	$256.30
Full-time Study	Dietitian not employed for more than eight hours per week, and undertaking studies that will further the profession of dietetics	$256.30
Parental Leave	On Parental Leave from work	$256.30
Absent from Australia	Absent from Australia and not working. If your preferred postal address is an overseas address you do not pay the GST component (in this case membership fee will be $233.00)	$256.30
Not Working in Related Industry	Employed in an industry where a nutrition/dietetics qualification is not a criteria for employment. Members paying in this category are not eligible for APD status. If you wish to be part of the APD Program, you must pay in either the Full or Part-time category	$435.60
Overseas - working outside Australia	Living and working overseas. This is a partial services category	$254.00*
Retired:	(retired from employment for reasons of health or age (over 55 years))
Full services	Receive all services - including Newsletter and Journal	$178.25
Partial services	Does not receive DAA Journal. Access will be via the DAA website	$111.65
Student Dietitian	Students enrolled in a DAA accredited course who have NOT completed their entry level qualifications	$111.65
Associate (Full)	Hold an Australian human nutrition qualification and are not eligible for full DAA membership	$424.25
Associate (Unemployed)	As above but Absent from all employment **	$256.30
Associate (Retired)	Retired from employment for reasons of health or age (over 55 years). This is a partial services category	$111.65
Associate (Student)	Currently enrolled in an Australian human nutrition course and not eligible for student dietitian or full DAA membership	$111.65
Affiliate (Partial Services)	Dietitians living outside Australia who are current full members of an overseas national dietetic association which is recognised by the International Confederation of Dietetic Associations and who are not eligible for full DAA membership. This is a partial services category	AU$254.00*

Other fees:

Rejoining/Reinstatement Fee (lapsed members and resigned members rejoining within three years)	$44.00 (or $40.00 without GST*)
Instalment service fee	$5.50 per payment
Cancellation fee for incomplete applications	$56.00
