Eating a wide variety of healthy foods each day will help to keep both men and women healthy.
Special concerns for men
Although studies show that men are less likely to worry about their health than women, men have a higher risk of certain lifestyle-related diseases. They are also more likely to:
- have high cholesterol
- have high blood pressure
- be overweight than women
A healthy diet and regular physical activity can go a long way to reducing men's risk of health problems and disease.
Try to eat:
- lots of fruit, vegetables, wholegrain breads and cereals
- moderate amounts of low fat dairy food and lean meats
- small amounts of foods high in fat, sugar and salt
Try also to drink plenty of water each day and stay active (For further information see Healthy Eating and Dietary Guidelines).
